Katherine Ryan asks: How Did You Get So Rich?

New series for Channel 4

Katherine Ryan is to host a new Channel 4 series about the super-wealthy.

The show is an 'inspirational' look at how the rich made their millions and is based on an American reality series hosted by Joan Rivers.

Six 45-minute episodes are to be made, looking at self-made millionaires and their 'surprising personal stories of hard graft, bizarre business and plucky entrepreneurship'.

Ryan said: 'For the first time ever, I get to legally snoop through people's mega-homes and luxury possessions without having to sleep with a rapper.

'I want to know how somebody gets super rich, and what that lifestyle looks like from the inside. I hope not to offend, as a multi-millionaire could have me killed quite easily.'

The American show ran on the TV Land for 12 episodes in 2009 and 2010 and featured everyone from a high-school dropout who invented the 'wee wee pad' for housebreaking puppies to Donald Trump, who inherited $100million.

Ryan's acidic barbs have often led to comparisons with Rivers, and Murray Boland, one of the executive producers from programme-makers CPL Productions said: 'Katherine is a playful and probing presenter, and will make the perfect host for this eye-opening series.

'She'll be out on the streets, and inside the homes of the very wealthy asking the questions many of us would be afraid to ask.'

How Did You Get So Rich will air in 2017. Here's a clip from the original:
