Channel 5 goes back to the Borderline

Comedy gets a second series

Channel 5’s  comedy Borderline is to return for a second series.

The first series of the semi-improvised mockumentary, set in a border control department of a fictional airport launched last month.

Episode one attracted 526,000 viewers according to overnight figures, but was said to have been successful in drawing a younger, more male  audience to the channel.

Starring Jackie Clune, David Avery, Liz Kingsman, David Elms, Jamie Michie, Guz Khan and Ralf Little, it was Channel 5’s first comedy commissioned since Suburban Shootout ended in 2007.

Channel 5’s director of programmes, Ben Frow announced at the Edinburgh International Comedy Festival today. He said : ‘The critical reaction to Borderline has been really encouraging as we begin to build our comedy portfolio.’

Borderline is made by Zoe Rocha and Ralf Little’s LittleRock Pictures. It is written by Chris Gau and Michael Orton-Toliver, and Sebastian Cardwell is the executive producer.
