Look who's in the David Brent movie

More cast details revealed

Comedians Kevin Bishop, Roisin Conaty and Diane Morgan are all starring alongside Ricky Gervais  in the David Brent: Life On The Road movie.

Their parts have not yet been disclosed, but their involvement was revealed as streaming giant Netflix confirmed that it had brought worldwide rights to The Office spin-off.

Conaty’s credits include Man Down and her own sitcom GameFace, due to air on E4 later this year; while Morgan is probably best known for playing Philomena Cunkon Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe.

It was already known that Doc Brown (real name Ben Bailey Smith)  was to play Dom Johnson, Brent’s band mate in the movie; and Tom Basden would be his road manager Dan.

The mockumentary’s cast also includes Some Girls actress Mandeep Dhillon; Skins star Alexander Arnold;  Abbie Murphy, known for the Edinburgh Fringe show Girl On Fire; and Ashley McGuire, currently starring in dark comedy The Suicide at the National Theatre.

The BBC-backed movie will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on August 19 this year, and there is also a distribution deal in place for Australia and New Zealand. Netflix will then have the rights for the rest of the world.

Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos said: ‘We are thrilled to welcome the iconic character of David Brent back to Netflix, as we were the home to the first digital deal for The Office.

‘Our existing collaborations across series, for Derek, and in film, with Special Correspondents have been fruitful, and it’s only fitting for us to have Ricky’s upcoming feature film available to as many of our viewers as possible.’

Gervais added: ‘I’m so glad the mighty Netflix have once again outbid all competitors in North America to show my movie exclusively. It is the perfect platform for me, giving complete creative freedom and also millions of instant viewers who can watch again and again. I can’t wait for David Brent to follow it up with his US live tour.’
