Coogan plans new Alan Partridge chat show

With real guests

Steve Coogan says he's considering a new chat show for Alan Partridge - but this time with real guests.

The comic jokes on Alan Carr's Chatty Man tonight that he might call the show: 'Alan Partridge Speaky Man'.

He added: 'We might do a real one, with real guests. I don’t know. We are having a think about it.

'Thing is we really want to make fun of the guests in a way that is a bit edgy. I interviewed Elton John once and made fun of his propensity of buying huge bouquets of flowers and being a gay ex pothead. He was great. He wore his pink suit to look extra gay for us. It was nice.'

Coogan also mocked the newspaper outrage sparked by the Top Gear crew filming near the Cenotaph.

The actor, who was once tipped to take over from Jeremy Clarkson, said: 'I am outraged. Outraged. Yeah that’s it. I mean there is a point to it but I think people do like to get, I mean the British especially, we do like to get really angry about things don’t we. It was probably inappropriate but I think people love to go "how dare you". A lot of finger wagers aren’t we?'

Catastrophe star Rob Delaney is also on tonight's show, where he blasted  Donald Trump.

'I’m worried about the virulent racism that he harnesses and uses like a weapon, he said. 'I’m worried about that. Not worried about him being President. I think he will probably get the Republican nomination, but I don’t think he will win the election.

'So he is totally a dangerous, disgusting monster person orange bigot, but I don’t think he will be President of the United States of America.'

Alan Carr: Chatty Man is on Channel 4 at 10pm tonight.
