Netflix renews acclaimed comedy

 Netflix has renewed Aziz Ansari’s series Master of None for a second series.

The comic announced the news on Twitter overnight, posting: ‘Master of None Season 2 coming 2017. Thanks for all the support everyone!!’

The first ten episodes were critically acclaimed when the were released on the streaming service in November. It won the Critics’ Choice award foe best comedy and has been nominated for a Golden Globe.

Scripts drew on Ansari's personal and professional experiences as they charted the struggles of a a 30-year-old actor called Dev in New York City. 

The series co-starred Noel Wells, Lena Waithe, Kelvin Yu and Eric Wareheim, with Todd Barry having a recurring roles as a movie director.

Just last month, Ansari said he wouldn’t be rushed into a second season.

He told a Hollywood press conference: ‘We’re figuring it out; I need some time to refill my head,’ adding that he wanted  to ensure ‘whatever we do for season two lives up to what we made in the first season.’
