Craig Cash pilots new BBC One comedy

Broken Biscuits set in his home town

Craig Cash has written and directed a BBC One pilot in his local town.

Broken Biscuits stars Gemma Whelan and her Game of Thrones co-star Ben Crompton along with Timothy West, Alison Steadman, Warren Brown and Lisa Millett.

Filmed around Marple in Stockport earlier this year, the pilot is only the latest comedy that the Royle Family star has made on his own doorstep.

He previously shot Sunshine, starring Steve Coogan, Bernard Hill and Millett for BBC One there, as were scenes for After Hours, Sky 1's current sitcom directed by Cash and featuring Ardal O'Hanlon and John Thomson.

Cash has just wrapped on directing Rovers, Sky 1's upcoming lower league football sitcom written by David Earl and Joe Wilkinson.

Gill Isles, whose credits include Rovers, After Hours and Peter Kay's Car Share, is producing Broken Biscuits for Cash's company Jellylegs.

Broken Biscuits was previously the name of an unrelated collective producing sketches for BBC Three, led by Spencer Jones and animator Jon Riche and featuring comics Nick Helm and Joe Davies among others.
