Greg Davies, Russell Howard, Dara O Brain and Jack Whitehall are to take part in a major comedy benefit to raise funds to help the refugee crisis. Stand Up in Action at the Hammersmith Apollo on November 11 will raise funds for ActionAid and the UN Refugee Agency. Jo Brand, Reginald D Hunter and Roisin Conaty are also on the bill. Gonzalo Vargas, the UNHCR representative to the UK said the gig will 'continue our life-saving work to protect and meet the urgent humanitarian needs of the most vulnerable refugee families'. DAVID O'DOHERTY, Des Bishop and Karl Spain will be rubbing shoulders with the world's leading economists at the annual Kilkenomics festival in Kilkenny next month – the world's only event combining comedy and financial analysis. Website.

Chris Rock is being tipped to be the host of the next Oscars. American trade papers are reporting that the comedian is in serious talks to host the 88th Academy Awards, which will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 28, 2016.

JIM JEFFERIES, Sean Lock, Stephen K Amos and German comedy star Michael Mittermeier are among the first names to be announced for next year's Altitude comedy festival in Mayrhofen in the Austrian Alps, running from January 11 to 15. COMEDY actor Steve Oram will be answering audience questions at a special screening of his new movie Aaaaaaaah! at the Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds from 11pm this Saturday.
