Paul Zenon's magic moment...

A tight 5: October 13

Paul Zenon has been awarded the Carlton Award 'for outstanding comedy in magic' at the Magic Circle Awards. He said: 'I'm honoured… particularly seeing as this year, after three decades of being a pro performer, I wrote and performed Linking Rings, the first work I've ever written which isn't comedy-based - I think they might be trying to tell me something.' Linking Rings, which was performed at this year's Fringe, tells the story Houdini's right-hand man, Jim Collins, drawing parallels with his own first steps in the world of tricks and magic.

CHORTLE can reveal further details of the roles Seann Walsh and Marek Larwood play in the forthcoming film 2:hrs, which has just finished shooting. They play Tooley and Graves - a journalist and a photographer for a sleazy tabloid newspaper on the trail of teenager Tim Edge, who has two hours to live and is keen to elude them. We first reported their involvement last week.

RICHARD DAVIES, the comedy actor who played Welsh school teacher Mr. Price in the 1960s and 1970s sitcom Please Sir! has died at the age of 89. He also appeared as Clive Jenkins in Not The 9 O'Clock News, Mr. White in the Fawlty Towers episode The Kipper and the Corpse as well as roles in Yes Minister, One Foot in the Grave and Steptoe and Son Ride Again.

BERNARD MANNING’s son, also called Bernard, is selling off the late comedian’s personalised number plate ‘1 Laf’. ‘I would love to see one of today’s famous comics driving about with it,’ he told the Manchester Evening News.

MATT BERRY’s next iPlayer exclusive will be Matt Berry Does… Ghosts, to be released at 9pm on October 25, in good time for Halloween.
