New episodes ordered for the online BBC Three

BBC Three has ordered two more series of People Just Do Nothing.

New episodes charting the goings-on at pirate radio station Kurupt FM will air in January, after the channel goes online.

The order comes after series two reached an average of 1.4 million viewers in total, counting on-demand viewings.

Allan Mustafa, Steve Stamp, Asim Chaudhry and Hugo Chegwin first brought their characters to screen on YouTube. The show was picked up for a BBC Comedy Feed in 2012 and a full series debuted on BBC iPlayer, before being aired on BBC Three.

Comedy controller Shane Allen ordered the episodes with BBC Three’s digital controller Damian Kavanagh from Roughcut Television and executive producer Ash Atalla.

Commissioning editor Chris Sussman said: ‘People Just Do Nothing started as a tiny online series, but more and more people seem to be finding it and enjoying it. I’m delighted we’re going to be doing more of them. Hopefully the series will continue to grow, and the talented guys behind it will get the recognition they deserve.’

And producer Jon Petrie joked: ‘The boys did already announce the good news on Kurupt FM, but they only transmit as far as Shepherds Bush and have 50 listeners, so we thought a BBC press release might be more effective.’
