E4 orders Roisin Conaty comedy

...18 months after pilot aired

Roisin Conaty's comedy pilot Game Face is to be made into a full series for E4.

The decision comes almost 18 months after the original try-out episode aired on Channel 4.

In the show, the stand-up plays Marcella, a thirtysomething waster trying to get her life on track with the help of her friends. The pilot, based on her 2010 Edinburgh Comedy Award-winning show Hero, Warrior, Fireman, Liar, revolved around her delivering a speech at her old school, lying about the successes in her life.

Other comedians in the pilot included her Man Down co-star Mike Wozniak as well as Cariad Lloyd, Ingrid Oliver, Elis James, Joel Dommett, Alistair Green – and Father Ted star Pauline McLynn.

Six half-hour episodes have now been commissioned from Peep Show producers Objective and are expected to air next year.

Channel 4 comedy commissioning editor Rachel Springett said Conaty was a 'phenomenally talented writer and performer, adding: 'It's been a real privilege to work with her since her 2010 Edinburgh Newcomer win, from her original online Blaps, two series of Man Down, and now her own much-anticipated sitcom.'

The pilot is still available on demand.
