Filming starts on new Ben Miller romcom

From Worst Week Of My Life writers

Ben Miller has begun filming his new BBC One romcom, I Want My Wife Back.

In it, he stars as a man shocked when his wife – played by Doc Martin actress Caroline Catz – walks out on their marriage on her 40th birthday.

The series follows his attempts to find out why she has left him and how he can win her back, but the BBC says 'it's less a journey than a floundering stumble in the dark towards the prize of returning his life to something approaching normality'.

The six-part series has been written and produced by Mark Bussell and Justin Sbresni, who previously created The Worst Week Of My Life, also starring Miller.

He said: 'I feel incredibly lucky to be back in the BBC comedy fold, playing the incredibly unlucky hero of I Want My Wife Back. Fans of The Worst Week Of My Life will be happy to learn that not much goes right in this one either.'

BBC commissioning editor Chris Sussman added: 'It's a very modern farce with a great cast, and I can't wait to see it on TV. The writers do a brilliant job of putting Ben Miller down a hole and then watching him painfully trying to crawl his way out.'

The cast of the series, which has not yet been given a confirmed air date, also includes Cariad Lloyd, Stewart Wright, Kenneth Collard, Susannah Fielding and Peter Wight.
