LIVE IN EDINBURGH: This year's Chortle Student Comedy Award ends here as Mark Watson hosts the final of the talent hunt that has spanned more than a dozen nationwide heats featuring hundreds of entrants. LIVE IN EDINBURGH: The Gilded Balloon hosts Not Just A Funny Turn, a two-hour benefit to help people who've suffered strokes featuring Aisling Bea, Hal Cruttenden, Markus Birdman, Kevin McMahon and Ed Byrne. 6.30pm

RADIO: Mitch Benn returns for a series of 'specials' in which he examines various musical icons starting with Bob Dylan. Radio 4, 6.30pm

LIVE IN MANCHESTER: The mischievous, always watchable Carey Marx heads a strong line-up at the Comedy Store all weekend, with some fine storytelling from Dave Fulton as backup and the consummate compering skills of Ian Coppinger. David Longley and Rob Rouse join the bill on Friday and Saturday, plus there's a bank holiday edition on Sunday too.

LIVE IN EDINBURGH: Another significant benefit at the Fringe; the annual Big Comedy Gala for Macmillan Cancer Support, featuring a top line-up of David O'Doherty, Felicity Ward, Andrew Maxwell, Andrew Lawrence, Imran Yusuf,Glenn Wool and hosed by faux German musical comics Die Roten Punkte. RADIO: Arthur Smith kicks off Radio 4 Extra's Comedy Club weekend in Edinburgh with a programme featuring Sarah Franken, Stephen Carlin and more Radio 4 Extra, 10pm

Saturday August 29

TV: As the Edinburgh Fringe winds down over its last weekend, Sue Perkins' Big Night Out brings some of the stars to BBC Two, including Phill Jupitus, Nina Conti, Katherine Ryan and Adam Hills.9.10pm

LIVE IN LONDON: There's an entertaining bill on at the Boat Show on the floating venue The Tattershall Castle, permanently moored by Embankment station. Livewire Luisa Omielan and droll Michael Fabbri are joined by blind observational comic Chris McCausland – he's aware of the irony – and MC David Morgan.

LIVE IN BEDFORDSHIRE: The 1830s English Heritage stately home Wrest House is to become a comedy club for a night. Andy Zaltzman, Ben Van Der Velde, Iszi Lawrence and Chris Purchase promise a history-themed night of comedy in the mansion's library. Tickets, priced £22, must be booked on 0370 333 1183.
