Comedy hypnotist gets his big trance...

C4 pilot for Archie Manners

Channel 4 has commissioned a comedy prank show from hypnotist Archie Manners.

The 21-year-old has previously performed for the likes of David Cameron, Prince Edward and Alex Ferguson – and now he is making the move to TV with a pilot episode of Look Into My Eyes.

The show will be made by Peep Show producers Objective, the company that has also been behind Derren Brown’s specials.

Channel 4 describes the show as ‘warm and devilishly funny’, explaining that Manners will use his skills ‘to twist the minds of young Brits so they act in extraordinary ways; like hypnotise total strangers to only tell the truth on a first date; or cure people’s fear of heights – and to prove it’s worked, bring them out of their trance at the top of a mountain… on a high wire.’

The pilot will be broadcast later this year, although the exact date is yet to be announced.

Look Into My Eyes was commissioned by Channel 4 executives Dom Bird and Danny Carvalho, with Paul Gilheany and Andrew Newman as the executive producers.

Earlier this year, ITV aired comedy hypnotism gameshow You’re Back In The Room, hosted by Phillip Schofield, which attracted 4.3million viewers on its launch.
