Comic's website accused of plagiarism

Dapper Laughs has pulled his website after he was accused of plagiarising other websites word-for-word.

DappsDaily was recently established as ‘a place for Dapper Laughs to share things that will seriously help you get through the day’.

But as the Guardian discovered, the site used content verbatim that had previously appeared on other sources, including Metro’s website. The newspaper cites a piece entitled Nine Reasons We All Love Emma Watson also appeared on uberpunch.com.

And Chortle has unearthed others including Boyfriend Discovers Something Inside His Girlfriend, which was originally a Reddit post then printed with the same introduction as on DappsDaily – ‘Here is another great f*ck up story! Be warned this one is NSFW’ – on sites including Dude Comedy.

Other duplicates include Guy Catches Girlfriend Cheating On Him With A Girl, The Outcome Is Amazing, which previously appeared on depresseddarth.com; and Husband Gave His Unfaithful Ex-Wife Half Of Everything He Owned – featuring pictures of household item,s including a car, neatly sawn in two – which was previously on boredpanda.com.

Daniel O’Reilly revived his Dapper Laughs alter-ego at Christmas, despite saying he had been killed off when the outcry over his sexist behaviour reach a peak with the charge he normalised ‘rape culture’.

He is currently touring nightclubs and continuing to cause controversy. The leader of Newcastle City Council, Nick Forbes, yesterday called on a local venue to pull Dapper’s gig scheduled for Wednesday, saying: ‘I am concerned that House of Smith would seek to give a platform to an individual who thinks it’s acceptable to demean, degrade and objectify women and make jokes about rape. His views cross a line and have no place in a civilised society.’
