Stanhope to return to the UK

First tickets on sale

Doug Stanhope is returning to the UK for the first time in three years.

The 'vulgar, opinionated, brutally honest and shockingly uninhibited' comic will be playing the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on October 10.

Although the London date is the only one announced so far, ticket agency Eventim talks of 'his first live [UK] shows since 2012', suggesting more are on the way.

The 2012 visit was his first full UK tour – during which he became embroiled in a high-profile spat with columnist Allison Pearson over assisted suicides. Click here to read our review of that show.

Earlier this week Chortle reported on how the comic – known to TV viewers for his appearances on Charlie Brooker's Wipe programmes –  had signed a deal to write his memoirs, based on his fractious relationship with his mother, which will be published next year.

Tickets for the October 10 gig go on general sale from 10am on Monday, but pre-sale tickets are available here
