Acaster and Christie do the double

Chortle Awards: The results

Bridget Christie and James Acaster have won two accolades apiece at the Chortle Awards tonight.

Clive Anderson hosted the event, which also saw prizes for Monty Python, Inside No 9, Richard Ayoade and the researchers behind QI.

It is the second year running that Christie has won two awards; scooping the radio award for her show Bridget Christie Minds The Gap and best tour for her feminist-inspired double bill of A Bic For Her and An Ungrateful Woman.

Meanwhile Acaster won awards for best show for Recognise, and the breakthrough award.

Monty Python star Terry Jones collected the award for event of the year for the troupe’s O2 reunion gigs last year; Inside No 9 won TV award; Ayoade the book award for his parody film tome Ayoade On Ayoade; and the QI team the internet award for their podcast No Such Thing As Fish.

Celebrities attending the event, at Jongleurs in Camden, included Nancy Dell’Olio, Matt Berry and Christopher Biggins.

Cult Edinburgh hit Funz And Gamez was the most-nominated show, with four, but went away empty-handed on the night.

The awards were chosen by Chortle readers, with 13,500 votes cast from a shortlist chosen by independent industry experts.
