Writers' Guild awards announced

Gongs for Him & Her and The Brig Society

BBC Three’s Him & Her and Radio 4’s The Brig Society have scooped Writers’ Guild Of Great Britain Awards tonight.

Stefan Golaszewski won the sitcom prize for the last six-part series of Him & Her based around a wedding.

Also shortlisted were Up The Women by Jessica Hynes and House of Fools by Vic Reeves & Bob Mortimer.

The writing team behind Marcus Brigstocke’s The Brig Society show scooped the best radio comedy award.

As well as Brigstocke himself, they are Jeremy Salsby, Toby Davies, Nick Doody, Dan Tetsell and Steve Punt.

Also shortlisted was Helen Keen’s It is Rocket Science, co-written with Miriam Underhill, and John Finnemore’s Souvenir Programme.

Other winners include Happy Valley by Sally Wainwright, Marvellous by Peter Bowker and Holby City. Kay Mellor was awarded the outstanding contribution to writing accolade.
