BROOKLYN NINE-NINE has been renewed for a third series by US broadcaster Fox. The Andy Samberg police comedy, aired in Britain by Channel 4 and E4, is growing its audience in the States, with the average viewing figure for the current season up 17 per cent on the first.

RICHARD BLACKWOOD is to join the cast of EastEnders, making his debut as a villain in a live scene next month.

MEANWHILE ‘Weird Al ’ Yankovic has signed up to voice another villain – The Dollmaker in the upcoming animated film Batman Vs. Robin.

CANADIAN comic Don Harron, best known for his alter-ego Charlie Farquharson, has died in Toronto at the age of 90. Farquharson, a country bumpkin with a line in corny jokes, was a regular part of long-running CBS variety show Hee Haw in the States in the 1960s.

STEPHEN FRY has married his partner Elliott Spencer.The QI host confirmed the news to his 8.5 million followers on Twitter, posting a picture at the Norfolk register office where they tied the knot, and writing: ‘Gosh. @ElliottGSpencer and I go into a room as two people, sign a book and leave as one. Amazing.’
