Bad Education 'set to be a movie'

Michael Whitehall reveals his son's film ambitions

Jack Whitehall is poised to make a movie version of his BBC comedy Bad Education.

The comedian’s father – and chat show co-star – revealed that the film was in the works as he spoke of Jack’s potential to be a movie star.

He said: ‘I think Jack will end up being a very successful actor in film and television. I don't think he will be playing Hamlet but he's a great comic actor.’

Michael also revealed plans to bring Shark Infested Waters, the memoir of his time as a show business agent to the big screen – which again could be a vehicle for his son.

‘He's doing a film of Bad Education and a drama of my autobiography is still on the cards. It was Jack's idea to play me, and I think that would be very good,’ he told the Radio Times.

The ABC network last year piloted an American version of Bad Education, again starring Whitehall, but passed on making it into as series.
