Michael McIntyre is to host a festival special for BBC One. His Very Christmassy Christmas Show mixes celebrity guests, hidden camera stunts and studio games. It will be recorded in front of a live studio audience in London next month – see our free tickets page to joint them.

PADDY McGUINNESS has joined the cast of ITV's new sitcom, The Delivery Man. The six-part series focuses on a policeman, played by Darren Boyd, who quits his job to become a midwife. McGuinness will play his best mate Ian. Previously announced cast include Fay Ripley, Aisling Bea and Alex Macqueen.

BEC HILL has won the 'golden loo seat' for the best toilet-themed joke in a a competition run by charity WaterAid to mark World Toilet Day. Her gag, below, is: 'For Christmas last year I got given Sudoku toilet paper. It’s useless. You can only fill it in with number ones and number twos'

MATT BERRY to to perform one-off music concert in London's Forum with his 'mesmerising, dark and eerie' band The Maypoles. To coincide with the gig on February 13, Berry and his label, Acid Jazz will be issuing a limited edition of 500 heavyweight vinyl copies of his CD opium. Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday here. ACADEMICS are to discuss what humour says about human behaviour at Brunel University in Uxbridge, West London, on Friday. The free event – part of the Being Human festival – takes place at the Antonin Artaud Theatre on campus from 4pm to 7pm.
