ABC to remake Chris O'Dowd's comedy

Chris O’Dowd is adapting his hit Sky 1 comedy Moone Boy for American TV.

The ABC network has committed to a ‘put pilot’, which comes with a financial penalty if the script does not make it to screen.

O'Dowd will write the remake and will be an executive producer along with American partners.

However the IT Crowd star is not signed up to appear in the US remake according to Hollywood website Deadline, which broke the story tonight.

The original series, shot in Ireland and co-created by Nick Vincent Murphy, won an International Emmy for best comedy last year It has recently aired on various public broadcasters in the States and is streamed on Hulu.
