Jimmy Carr to narrate British remake

American TV series Drunk History – in which inebriated comics recount stories from the past – is to be remade for the UK, with Jimmy Carr as the narrator.

The show, which started life as an internet series on Funny Or Die, has run for three seasons on Comedy Central in the States. Now its British sister station has ordered a one-off half hour pilot in the hope of making a series early next year.

Comedians lined up for the pilot are Dustin Demri-Burns from Cardinal Burns, Tom Rosenthal, Mathew Horne and Rob Beckett.

Lourdes Diaz, who commissioned the remake, said: 'The show is already a smash hit in the US and I’m sure our UK audience will love this local version too. I can’t wait to see some of our most loved comedians attempt to recall some of history’s greatest moments in a totally inebriated state.'

The show is being remade by Tiger Aspect, whose credits include The Vicar Of Dibley, Crackanory and Benidorm.
