Look what jokers are at the Labour Conference

The comedy week ahead

Today

LIVE IN MANCHESTER: As the Labour conference comes to town, Eddie Izzard is joined by Phill Jupitus, Ian Stone, Sara Pascoe and host Stephen K Amos at a party fundraiser at the Opera House. And for the more cost-conscious, there's also one of Crispin Flintoff's Stand-Up For Labour events for a local constituency party at the the Sir Ralph Abercromby pub – with a double-dose of upbeat positivity courtesy of Mrs Barbara Nice and Patrick Monahan. Both are just a short walk away from the action at Manchester Central.

LIVE IN LONDON: Feminism For Chaps, the 'politely passionate, political, beautifully expressed and very funny' show that earned Andrew Watts a five-star Chortle review at the Edinburgh Fringe gets an extra airing at the Museum Of Comedy tonight. And it's in a double bill with Ali Brice's delightfully stupid show Eric Meat Wants to Go Shopping.

Tuesday September 23

LIVE IN LIVERPOOL: It's the start of the city's comedy festival and over the next 13 nights, big name comedians such as Michael Palin and Cardinal Burns will join local acts including Keith Carter and Chris Cairns. Website.

LIVE IN LONDON: Putting the fun in feminism, Luisa Omielan starts a two-week run of her infectiously empowering - and funny - Edinburgh show Am I Right Ladies?! at the Soho Theatre. Review

Wednesday September 24

LIVE IN LONDON: A snazzy marquee at the historic National Maritime Museum hosts five nights of top comedy names for the Greenwich Comedy Festival: Stewart Lee, Phill Jupitus, Cardinal Burns (again) and Milton Jones to name but four. See our listings for the full line-ups.

LIVE IN LONDON: John Kearns, the only comic to progress from best newcomer to best show at the Edinburgh Fringe's biggest accolades in just a year, brings that award-winning show, Shtick, to the Soho Theatre for a month-long run. Absurd yet accessible, it's a great show. Read our review here.

LIVE IN BRISTOL: Back on stage after a sojourn on the telly, including Law and Order and singing with Ricky Gervais on Equality Street, rapper-turned-comic Doc Brown starts a new 13-night tour, The Weird Way Round. Dates.

LIVE IN MANCHESTER: Stephen Fry entertains with stories from his new book of memoirs, More Fool Me, at the Bridgewater Hall - the start of a short UK tour.

LIVE IN CHORLEY: Also kicking off his tour tour is the twentysomething voice of observational comedy, Seann Walsh. In his new tour, 28, the congenital layabout faces a new challenge: co-habiting with a girlfriend intent on improving him. Review and dates

Thursday September 25

LIVE IN TEDDINGTON: Another two tours set sail today. Susan Calman's Lady Like starts in Teddington, criss-crossing England ahead of Ireland, Scotland and Wales in the spring. Dates.

LIVE IN INVERNESS: And after a flurry of warm-up dates, many on the Scottish islands, Ross Noble's nicely-named Tangentleman starts in Inverness, and will keep him busy right through till the end of February. Dates

LIVE IN LONDON: An alternative comedy supergroup takes to the stage of the Leicester Square Theatre tonight with Tony Law, Josie Long AND Simon Munnery offering their unique and intriguing take on the world. Unsurprisingly, it's very nearly sold out…

RADIO: Newsjack, Radio 4 Extra's crowdsourced topical comedy show, is back for its 11th series, again hosted by Romesh Ranganathan, fresh from being nominated for the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Award. 10.30pm

Friday September 26

LIVE IN LONDON: Headliners, the purpose-built comedy club behind the George IV in Chiswick, reopens after a refit with a night featuring the ever-engaging Andrew Maxwell. And Stephen K Amos joins him tomorrow.

LIVE IN MANCHESTER There's a good mix of acts on at the Frog and Bucket this tonight and tomorrow, with Prince of Puns Gary Delaney, the mischievously upbeat Micky D and promising up-and-comer Penella Mellor. Martin Mor keeps order as MC.

Saturday September 27

LIVE IN SADDLEWORTH: The aforementioned Andrew Watts joins the dry wit of Gavin Webster and charm-merchant Joe Lycett at the Off The Rails club tonight.
