TV: The second series of David Walliams's sitcom Big School starts tonight, with Catherine Tate, Philip Glenister and Frances de la Tour all returning – and a guest appearance from Morgana Robinson in this forest episode. BBC One, 9.30pm

LIVE IN LONDON: Acerbic and brash American comic Tom Rhodes - the well-travelled 30-year stand-up veteran- comes to Soho Theatre for two nights.

LIVE IN MANCHESTER: A strong line-up at the Comedy Store this weekend, with smarty-pants Adam Bloom, Canadian anecdotalist Jason John Whitehead, the dry wit of John Moloney, and musical comedy from Rob Deering.

RADIO: Panel game The 99p Challenge, a sort of younger sibling to I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, gets a repeat run on Radio 4 Extra. Hosted by Sue Perkins, the show – which began as King Stupid and ran from 1998 to 2004 – has featured Armando Iannucci, Simon Pegg, Sean Lock and Miranda Hart among its guests. Today's episode was first broadcast on Radio 4 in 2000.
