E4 orders Wittank pilot

Half-hour show for 'original and anarchic' trio

Channel 4 have commissioned a pilot from sketch trio Wittank.

The troupe – Naz Osmanoglu, Mark Cooper-Jones and Kieran Boyd – are currently at the Edinburgh Fringe with their second live show based in a school.

And now they are developing a half-hour sitcom with the hope of landing a full series on the youth channel.

They have previously made short scripted inserts for BBC Three's Live At The Electric, which was also made by Avalon Television.

Channel 4’s head of comedy Phil Clarke said: 'They have a unique high energy attack to their comedy. It’s original and anarchic in spirit, but also accessible and charming. They keep the jokes coming thick and fast, but don’t let that get in the way of telling a good comic tale.'

The pilot is being developed by Avalon Television; while stand-up Dan Atkinson is also on the writing team.
