With Chris Turner people's choice in Amused Moose contest

Australian comic Celia Pacquola has been crowned the winner of this year’s Amused Moose Laughter Award at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Her show Let Me Know How It All Turns Out – about her habit of visiting psychics – beat more than 100 other festival shows to take the title.

She said: ‘I’m really stunned, thrilled and excited. It was very unexpected and I’m looking forward to trying to get my pointy, dangerous Moose trophy through airport security.’

Pacquola picked up the prize following a final this afternoon.

At the same event Chris Turner was named the People’s Choice winner, based on audience votes.

The pair share the £5,000 prize money for the development of their comedy careers and a commercial quality DVD recording. The runner up was Trygve Wakenshaw’s Kraken.

The other Amused Moose Laughter Award finalists were: Beasts, Loretta Maine, Lou Sanders, Pierre Novellie, Ria Lina, Rob Deering and Tom Toal.

A selection of the finalists will also perform at the Soho Theatre this October.

This competition, established in 2011, seeks the best of Edinburgh Fringe comedy shows by performers without a DVD deal.
