Rik Mayall's Crackanory WILL air

First picture from show

Rik Mayall’s final TV show is to air next month, it has been confirmed.

This picture is taken from his episode of adult storytelling show Crackanory, which he recorded shortly before his death in June, at the age of 56.

Bosses of the Dave channel previously said the programme would only air with the consent of Mayall’s family and agent... and now they have confirmed that the programme will go out on September 24.

A spokesman for UKTV said: ‘We’re honoured to be showing Rik Mayall’s Crackanory story on Dave’.

He will read The Weatherman, a story written by Tony Way, whose other comedy credits include Mongrels, Extras, and Spaced

Mayall previously appeared on kids’ story show Jackanory in 1986, reading Roald Dahl’s tale George’s Marvellous Medicine.

Other comedians taking part in the second series of Crackanory include Sue Perkins, Vic Reeves, David Mitchell, Katherine Parkinson and Johnny Vegas.
