What The Room's Tommy Wiseau did next

The director of the atrociously bad cult movie The Room is to make his own sitcom.

Tommy Wiseau has launched a website for The Neighbors, which he plans to release this autumn.

He has reportedly been working on the idea since 2004, the year after The Room came out, and a YouTube trailer purporting to be from the show (below) dates from 2009.

According to its Facebook page, The Neighbors revolves around the diverse inhabitants of a Los Angeles apartment building. The lead character is Charlie, the manager of the building.

One character, 'Princess Penelope' is said to 'create commotion by seeing the ghost of her uncle Prince Charles'.

It describes the plot of the pilot in ungrammatical style as: 'Mariana is obses about bugs in her apartment, Monica catches her boyfriend Den in bed with Patrick. Princess Penelope arrives and Darren sings the song with tenants for her. Richard becomes Princess Penelope's butler, handyman Ed prepares a birthday party for Bebe.'

The site adds: 'It is a fresh humorous look at human behavioe'. [sic]

The following footage - featuring official Tommy Wiseau underwear – has also been released on YouTube:

There is no word yet as to where The Neighbors will be released.

Meanwhile, The Room will be screened every Sunday night of the Edinburgh Fringe at Assembly George Square Theatre. Here is our review from a previous screening.
