Actress Patsy Bryne was in retirement home

Patsy Byrne, the actress best known for playing Nursie in Blackadder II, has died at the age of 80.

According to an announcement in the Telegraph, she passed away peacefully on Tuesday at Denville Hall – a retirement home for actors – in Hillingdon, West London.

The news comes just a fortnight atfer Rik Mayall, who played Lord Flashheart in the series, also died.

Her other roles included the sitcom Watching, the Harry Enfield film Kevin & Perry Go Large and the BBC children's programme Playdays.

Byrne's funeral service will be held at Breakspear Crematorium, Ruislip, on Thursday.
