Playing a pub landlord

Justin Moorhouse is joining the cast Coronation Street.

The stand-up will Dean Upton, the landlord of the Flying Horse – a rival pub to the Rovers Return – as the two boozers square up over a cricket match.

Moorhosue said: 'I’m delighted to be treading the cobbles. It’s always been a dream of mine to appear in the Rovers Return, even though as Dean, landlord of the Flying Horse, I feel like I’m a spy!

Moorhouse has previously had roles in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights and the Ken Loach film Looking For Eric.

His appearance on the ITV soap will come this August.

Other comics to have appeared on Coronation Street include Norman Wisdom, Peter Kay, Bernard Manning, Keith Lemon and John Shuttleworth creator Graham Fellows.

Moorhouse can also be seen in his own show at the Edinburgh Fringe this August, This Is What I Am, as well as compering several of Chortle's Fast Fringe showcases.
