This is Russell Howard's Good News...

He's promoted to BBC Two

Russell Howard’s Good News is moving to BBC Two after eight series on BBC Three.

The move comes ahead of the planned downgrading of BBC Three to an online-only service to save money – and should ensure a bigger audience for one of the digital channel's biggest hits.

BBC Two controller Kim Shillinglaw said: 'It is brilliant news that the wonderfully funny Russell Howard is coming to BBC Two and I very much look forward to welcoming his lively take on modern life to the channel.'

And Mark Linsey, controller of entertainment commissioning, added: 'Five years ago, BBC Three spotted Russell’s great talent, commissioned this brilliantly funny show, nurtured and cherished it and is now passing it on to BBC Two as a fully fledged hit.'

The new series will air on BBC Two later in the year. It is made by Avalon, the TV arm of the management company that represents him.
