Ricketts Lane goes to TV

Australian comic Sammy J and his puppet sidekick Randy are to make their own TV series.

The musical show will be based on the duo's stage show Ricketts Lane, which played the Edinburgh Fringe in 2011.

Six half-hour episodes are in development, and the series has just received a funding boost after Screen Australia announced it would share in a £2.5million payout with 11 other projects.

Written by Sammy J with puppeteer Heath McIvor, the show is about a socially inept lawyer sharing a house with the hard-bitten Randy.

The show is being made for the ABC2 network in Australia.
