Eric & Little Ern duo's charity single for flood victims

The Morecambe and Wise tribute act currently playing the West End are to release a version of their heroes theme song Bring Me Sunshine for flood victims,

Actors Ian Ashpitel and Jonty Stephens, whose show Eric & Little Ern is on at the Vaudeville Theatre, are to team up with broadcaster Mike Read and swing band The Jive Aces for the track.

‘People affected by the floods have had a thoroughly miserable time,' said Ashpitel, who plays Little Ern. ‘We wanted to do something to give them a lift.

‘We asked permission from the families and management of the Morecambe and Wise estate to record the iconic song....and they graciously agreed.

’It’s impossible to say how much we might raise - it might be a drop in the ocean - but every little helps."

The duo are also planning a special fundraising performance when they play the Theatre Royal in flood-hit Windsor next month, too.

They are recording the track at studios in Reading on Wednesday.
