ITV2 to remake Aussie comedy Laid

Written by Gimme Gimme Gimme's Jonathan Harvey

Australian sitcom Laid is set to be adapted for ITV2.

Scottish-based STV Productions has optioned the rights for the show, and Jonathan Harvey – who previously wrote Gimme Gimme Gimme and Beautiful People – is working on the script.

The original aired on Australian network ABC in 2011 and 2012. The ‘black romantic comedy’ followed 30-year-old Roo McVie whose ex-boyfriends start dying under mysterious circumstances. It starred Alison Bell with stand-up Celia Pacquola as her flatmate EJ.

Margaret Enefer, head of drama for STV Productions, said: ‘We are excited to be working with ITV2 and Jonathan Harvey on Laid.’

According to the TVWise website, ITV2 has commissioned a pilot, which will star Doc Martin actor Jessica Ransom and John Dagleish, from Starlings.
