In new low-budget Aussie film

Jim Jefferies and Greg Fleet are to star in a low-budget Australian zombie film.

Me And My Mates vs The Zombie Apocalypse wrapped filming on Friday in the Australian capital, Canberra, and is now in post-production.

The plot revolves around three telecom engineers who hide out in a telephone exchange as zombies attack, and is described as a mix comedy of and horror.

Fleety, who plays ‘hard-nosed, lazy, chain smoking Roy’, told the Canberra Times: ‘It's a very Aussie take on things, unlike a lot of zombie movies where people are full-on panicking, they're fairly laid-back most of the time.’

Fellow Australian comic Alex Williamson, known as Shooter Williamson by fans of his successful YouTube channel, plays the third engineer, Darryl, in the £400,000 film, which also stars actress Adele Vuko.

Producer, Daniel Sanguineti said of his three leads: ‘With their on-screen charisma, legendary comic timing, and devoted fan base, I believe we will make a very funny film that many people will enjoy, not only here in Australia, but overseas as well.’

Written and directed by Declan Shrubb, the film has received ‘significant’ production funding from the Australian Capital Territory government.

Meanwhile, the second series of Jefferies’s sitcom Legit starts on America’s FXX channel on February 26.
