John Oliver's HBO show is to be called Last Week Tonight With John Oliver and debut at 11pm on Sunday, April 27, the broadcaster has announced. The topical show will be made by Avalon Television, part of the British-based talent agency and production company.

JANEANE GAROFALO has dropped out of the Glasgow Comedy Festival. But her slot at The Stand on March 28 has been taken by Sabrina The Teenage Witch star Caroline Rhea. Tickers are valid for the new show, or contact the point of purchase for a refund.

DAVID BADDIEL has announced that he is taking his show Fame: Not The Musical to London’s Menier Chocolate Factory for a month-long residency, starting on April 29. Tickets go on sale next Wednesday.

FREDDIE STARR has been arrested for a third time over allegations of sex offences. The 71-year-old answered police bail today and was told he faces further claims under Operation Yewtree. He was first arrested in November 2012, but has always protested his innocence.

BBC ONE has ordered another 204 episodes of Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman game show Pointless. The deal also includes 24 episodes of the prime time Saturday night version, Pointless Celebrities. Pam Cavannagh, BBC Commissioning Editor adds; “It is great to see Pointless go from strength to strength, pulling in stellar ratings for BBC One.'
