Junk could be heading to BBC Three

Joe Lycett is being lined up to front a new BBC Three gameshow in which fellow comedians compete to win bits of junk the studio audience brought along.

The comic, who won the Chortle Student Comedy Award in 2009 is to pilot an episode of the show, called Junk, in London next month.

It is described as a mix of games how and stand-up; and character comedian Jamie Demetriou will have a role as the 'junkyard guardian'.

Producers say the show 'challenges a selection of the UK's best new comedians to earn treasured pieces of tat by being as hilarious as possible' – while someone in the audience will also get the chance to win 'some incredible clutter.

It is not the first game show for Lycett, as he was Alexander Armstrong's sidekick in the BBC One gameshow Epic Win in 2011.

The comic, a best newcomer nominee at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe, is currently on his first UK tour with his stand-up show If Joe Lycett Then You Should’ve Put a Ring On It.
