THE SECOND instalment of Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon’s The Trip, this time set in Italy, is to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival next month. As with there first series, director Michael Winterbottom has made a feature-length version as well as the TV episodes. Although no air date has yet been set for the BBC version, Brydon has revealed that the film will air at Sundance in Utah on January 19.

RATINGS for this year’s Royal Variety Performance, hosted by John Bishop and featuring Seann Walsh and Hal Cruttenden, were almost a million down on last year’s audience, but the 7.3million who tuned in to ITV (plus 330,000 more on +1) still made it the most-watched show on Monday night.

THE BBC are putting together a new compilation of archive Dave Allen material for a night themed around the legendary comic. On January 4, BBC Two is to repeat the documentary God’s Own Comic, which aired earlier this year, alongside the new compilation – plus his 1974 documentary Dave Allen in Search of the Great English Eccentric.

NEW Monty Python material is to be released online to mark their reunion gigs next July. Advertising agency Saatchi & Saatchi, says they want to ‘expand the brand’ of the troupe with the content on Reddit, Twitter, and Vine.

VICTORIA WOOD to adapt her stage musical That Day We Sang into a one-off drama for BBC Two.
