CHRIS ADDISON is to be absent from Mock The Week when it returns after its summer hiatus on September 5, as he will be in the States directing episodes of Armando Iannucci’s political comedy Veep. However comics already slated to appear include Ed Byrne, Stewart Francis, Rob Beckett, Gary Delaney and Hal Cruttenden.

THE BBC has ordered a 14th series of Room 101, which will again be hosted by Frank Skinner. Eight new episodes will be recorded in October, for expected broadcast on BBC One early in 2014.

AN AUTHORISED biography of Mrs Brown's Boys star, Brendan O'Carroll, written by by Brian Beacom, is is to be published next month. The book will cover his life from impoverished Dublin childhood to the sitcom’s huge success. It comes a month ahead of publication of Mrs Brown's Family Handbook, written by O'Carroll in character. SEINFELD co-creators Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld have been named as the richest comedians in America – by quite some margin. David, who also created Curb Your Enthusiasm, has a personal fortune of $900million, while Seinfeld follows close behind with $800million, according to analyst firm Wealth-X. At No3 is David Letterman with $390million, followed by Bill Cosby with $360million and Adam Sandler with $290 million.

BBC TWO is to celebrates 50 years of comedy on the channel with a two-hour archive special, accompanied by ‘a number of treats’ – which have yet to be revealed – from comic legends.
