A FILM about Richard Pryor has been named best documentary at the East End Film Festival, which ended in London last night. Marina Zenovich’s Richard Pryor: Omit The Logic shares the award with Mark Donne’s The UK Gold – about the role of the City in tax avoidance. Here is a trailer for the Pryor film:

MIRANDA HART is reportedly releasing a spoof fitness video in time for Christmas. The comedian, who has recently lost weight after saying ‘I want to get it off for health's sake’ would be following in the footsteps of Peter Kay and Paddy McGuinness who released a comedy workout video, The Power Of Two, in 2005.

THE BBC is developing a comedy series for Fonejacker Kavyan Novak, comedy controller Shane Allen revealed at the Broadcasting Press Guild lunch this week. Novak has already shot a supporting role in the BBC pilot Homeboys, about two twentysomething brothers still living at home, but the corporation is now working on his own star vehicle.

GINA YASHERE is to front a new internet TV series, Comedy And Maybe Cookin' from her apartment in East Hollywood. The British stand-up says the show – which launches at 9pm UK time on Sunday – will ‘have a homely kind of vibe’ and concentrate on the recipes that helped her lose weight.

THE eleventh season of Family Guy will premiere on BBC Three on July 21; while E4′s comedy series PhoneShop will return for a third series on July 25, it has been announced this week.
