ITV pilots a sitcom set in a theme park

ITV has commissioned a sitcom pilot set in a theme park.

Written by The Dawson Brothers, Rides features stand-up Nadia Kamil and Chris Kendall, who starred in their BBC Three sketch show Dawson Brothers Funtime last year.

Filming took place at the Pleasurewood Hills theme park in Lowestoft, Suffolk, last week.

Directed by Tim Kirkby, whose credits include Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle, Veep, Look Around You and My Mad Fat Diary, the ITV2 show is produced by Nana Hughes, who was also behind The Friday Night Project.

Little is known about the pilot other than Kamil's character is named Angel and Kendall has just pulled out of his Edinburgh Fringe run because of broadcast commitments.

Pleasurewood Hills celebrated its 30th anniversary last year and has three rollercoasters. It made the news in May when its new underground mine ride, Hob's Pit, was officially rated 12a by the British Board of Film Classification.

The Dawson Brothers - Steve and Andrew Dawson and their childhood friend Tim Inman – have also co-written BBC One's forthcoming sitcom Big School with David Walliams, who stars in the show with Catherine Tate, Phillip Glenister, Frances de la Tour, Joanna Scanlan and Daniel Rigby.
