New BBC One show for Rob Brydon

But his talk show is axed

Rob Brydon is to front a new BBC One entertainment show – but his chat show has been axed.

The corporation said it was planning to make a pilot episode of the new format later this year, but did not reveal any more details.

But a spokesman also confirmed that Brydon’s BBC Two chat show was not returning.

Ratings had slipped over the three series, from 2.6million when it launched in September 2010, to 1.3million last year – although this was still better than average for its slot.

Brydon will continue to host the BBC One panel show Would I Lie To You, and is currently making a second series of The Trip with Steve Coogan in Italy.
