Comedies top iPlayer chart

A tight 5: June 18, 2013

COMEDY has again dominated the iPlayer radio charts. The most downloaded episode in May was David Mitchell’s panel show The Unbelievable Truth, with 138,000 listens. That was followed by The Now Show, another Unbelievable Truth episode, The News Quiz and a Radio 5 Live sports update.

JACK BLACK is planning an animated web series that will include his band Tenacious D – but after he revealed his idea at the Cannes Lions festival, he said he couldn't speak more about it because ‘arch-rivals who shall remain nameless are listening...so they can do the same thing slightly better’.

JASON COOK has finished writing the second series of his BBC Two sitcom Hebburn – in which he also appears alongside Chris Ramsey. He told the Shields Gazette: ‘It’s just the first draft and it’ll be edited over and over again, but it feels good to reach this stage.’

DEADPAN stand-up Steven Wright has received this year’s Johnny Carson Comedy Legend award at the Viaero Great American Comedy Festival.

LEE EVANS has added three dates to his 2014 arena tour Monsters: Brighton Centre on August 26; Birmingham NIA on September 17 and London’s O2 on October 2. Tickets go on sale at 9am this Friday.
