Louie gets bumped

Fox postpones UK launch of series 3

The Fox network has pulled the planned third series of Louie from its UK schedules.

But the broadcaster has promised the series will return later in the year.

Louis CK’s semi-autobiographical sitcom had initially been due to start its latest run next Tuesday night. However, just days before the launch, Fox switched the season premiere with a Family Guy rerun.

A channel publicist said the series had merely been delayed, adding: ‘It will still premiere first on Fox in the UK this September. We’re really excited as we’re all huge fans.’

Louie launched on Fox earlier this year, but over the two series has gradually been pushed later in the schedules, from a prime-time 9pm slot to its current place at midnight.

However, the spokesman insisted that the show would have an earlier time slot when it returned.

The third series aired on America’s FX network from June to September last year, but suffered a slump in ratings over the run, from 1.43million on the night for episode one to 430,000 for the 13th.

Yet the network was happy enough with the figures – and the critical acclaim the show attracts –  to commission a fourth run, with an expected US launch date of April.

Here is a scene from the last episode in series three:
