New comedy for Tracy Morgan

Pilot for FX network

30 Rock star Tracy Morgan is to star in his own TV comedy.

The FX network has ordered a pilot of Death Pact, in which he stars as lazy, pot-dealing high school coach who returns to his hometown as a decorated war hero, bent on recruiting people to his new-found self-help ideas.

Network executive Nick Grad told the Deadline industry website: ‘Needless to say anything starring Tracy Morgan could be off-the-charts hilarious and we’re betting this one is.

‘We look forward to casting the other three co-stars and getting started with production.’

The show has been created by Cheers writer Rob Long and Tad Safran, who wrote the 2005 comedy film The Long Weekend.

Morgan is heading to the UK in October for his stand-up tour Excuse My French.
