Tig Notaro to play Fringe

US comic tops an intense year...

American comic Tig Notaro is to make her Edinburgh Fringe debut, a year after her candid on-stage revelation that she had breast cancer.

The performance at Los Angeles’s Largo Theatre last August took place just days after her diagnosjs, and its raw yet matter-of-fact mix of honesty, darkness and humour was dubbed ‘truly masterful’ by Louis CK.

He helped release it as an album, Live, which sold 100,000 copies – making it one of the most popular comedy CDs of the year,

Now she is to perform her show Boyish Girl Interrupted at the Gilded Balloon for the second two weeks of the Fringe. The Edinburgh show is being billed as Notaro’s UK debut, but she has previously performed circuit shows here.

Notaro has also recently signed a book deal with Ecco, an imprint of Harper Collins, to write a book based on her experiences, due for publication in 2015.
