Greenwich comedy fest on the move

Event relocates to Brick Lane

The Greenwich Comedy Festival is to move five miles across London, to a new home in Brick Lane.

Organisers had to find a new location after the Old Royal Naval College decided it could no longer accommodate the giant marquee which houses the festival.

The event had been at the historic location for four years, hosting the likes of Bill Bailey, Dylan Moran, Tim Minchin and Russell Howard.

However this year’s festival will now take place in Allen Gardens Park, just off Brick Lane, in an area known for its arty street culture, Bangladeshi community, and myriad curry houses.

Headliners over the five days from July 10 to 14 will include Al Murray, Alan Davies, Ed Byrne and Adam Buxton.

Organisers said: ‘The new location in the buzz of Brick Lane will breath fresh life into the festival as it moves into the cultural heart of the city.’
