Daytime TV job for Mel Giedroyc

Hosting C4's Draw It!

Mel Giedroyc is to present a new daytime game show for Channel 4.

The comic will host Draw It! in which two celebrity-led teams will compete to draw items and guess what they are.

The show is based on the Draw Something online game, but is also similar to board game Pictionary and Nineties game show Win, Lose Or Draw, variously hosted by Danny Baker, Bob Mills and others.

Great British Bake Off o host Giedroyc said: ‘Everyone loves a bit of doodling. As I speak I'm doodling and look what I've drawn - Alan Carr on a horse. I can't wait to doodle with the contestants and celebrities.’

More than 8,000 people have applied to be the show, which launches this summer, many via the Draw Something app. Viewers will also be invited to submit their own sketches.

The show is being produced by Victory Television and Zynga, the makers of the Draw Something game.

Comedians are becoming popular hosts for daytime TV, with Alexander Armstrong, Rory Bremner and Sandi Toksvig all currently hosting quiz shows.
