Still Game returns... as a play

Creators give their blessing

Still Game is to return – as a stage show.

The sitcom ended in 2007, when creators Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill had a bust-up.

However, they have put their feud behind them to allow the Sonic Boom Theatre Company to stage an adaptation – and even waive their royalties.

Christopher McKiddie, who will play pensioner Victor in the new production, said it was a ‘huge responsibility’ to revive the show, telling the Scottish Sun: ‘Like the whole county I loved Still Game dearly. So I constantly worry about doing it justice.’

The play, which will be staged at the Gaity Theatre in Ayr on July 26 and 27, sees Jack, Victor and Winston stuck in their flat with a broken lift, contemplating ‘life, love and how many bars to put on the fire’.

Hemphill has previously attended a one-off performance, and gave the company his blessing.
