Horrible Histories team create a Sky comedy

The team behind Horrible Histories are making a family comedy show called Yonderland for Sky 1.

The show will mix live action with puppetry sequences from Baker Coogan, long-time collaborators with the Jim Henson Company .

It follows a 33-year-old mum Debbie, played by Martha Howe-Douglas, who - free from her children for the first time in her life – unexpectedly finds herself in an extraordinary world inhabited by eccentric characters who believe her to be their saviour.

The other writers and stars are Matthew Baynton, Jim Howick, Simon Farnaby, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond will all write and star in the series, which will also  

Juliette Howell, head of television at producers Working Title Television, said: ‘This brilliant team have created a really fresh, bold and original show. We’re thrilled that it’s going to form part of Sky’s ambitious comedy output.’

Eight half-hour episodes have been commissioned.

Yonderland is also the name of a summer fashion label.
